Being a Friend

Sometimes i wonder: Do i have true friends? This question can be hard to answer in many ways. 1) sometimes you don't want to believe the negative in people that you care about 2) you don't want to believe that you are in lack of true friends. The truth can hurt sometimes but, we need to hear it. When i think of a true friend i think of; someone who will always be there for you through thick and thin. Someone who will always make you feel included rather than excluded. Someone who will raise you up rather than bring you down. Someone you haven't seen for 2 years, call them and everything seems as if it picked up were it left off. Someone that trust you and you can trust them. Well, i could go on for hours (my list is endless). A true friend can be described in many ways but, the best definition is the one that is in your heart. However, something important to think about is inclusion. Excluding others is a big problem that many people are facing. I know what it feels like to be exclude. I have been excluded many times in the past by friends that i thought would never behave in that way. There came a point were i felt that i didn't need their friendship anymore because i wanted friends that would include me all the time rather then whenever they felt like it. It's not worth it to hang around people who do not appreciate you. Remember that choosing the right friends is as important as being one; i learned that eventually. Presently, my situation is getting better and the friendship is getting stronger. Sometimes, we have to wonder if we are being true friends ourselves. The famous quote 'treat others the way you would want to be treated' is commonly used and every bit of the truth. If you are a good friend, keep it up. If your not, then you need to start. Now the only thing that is left to ask is: what is your definition of true friendship? Do you have true friends in your life? Are you being a friend?
